I like being prepared at all times, and that means having certain tools and items accessible to me. The system that I have developed involves a Maxpedition messenger bag, with different organized compartments. While this system works for me, something different might work for you. YouTube is a great place to get ideas and tips, but ultimately you need develop the system that works best for you and your specific needs.
An Altoids tin is a great receptacle in which to carry some small and very basic survival items. The contents of an Altoids survival tin are unique to each person, depending upon their environment. Living in Tampa Bay, mine is more focused on "urban" survival items. I often carry my Altoids survival tin when it is not appropriate to carry my EDC bag. So for me, items in my Altoids tin, are a microcosm of what is in my EDC bag.
The contents of my Altoids tin include: tooth picks, q-tips, safety pins, matches, electrical tape, duct tape, Swiss Army Knife, nano stream light flashlight, basic one dose medication, basic first aid supplies, piece of gum, rubber band, sanitizing wipe, and a $20 bill.
